Sheffield United manager Micky Adams has confirmed he tried to sign Blackpool striker Marlon Harewood on loan.
Harewood opted to join South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley instead in time to make his debut for the Tykes off the substitutes' bench in Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Norwich.
And Adams admits Harewood's decision is indicative of the problems he faces in the loan market.
The Blades manager said: "We were in for him, but he chose to go to Barnsley and maybe he didn't fancy it here because they're higher up the table.
"When you're at the lower end of the division there's a more limited market available because Premier League players usually don't want to tackle a relegation fight."
