Rams boss confirms talks are ongoing for Magpies midfielder

Derby County manager Nigel Clough is hoping to sign Notts County midfielder Ben Davies during the January transfer window. Davies has been a long-term target for Clough, who admitted back in August that he was keen to bring the 29-year-old to Pride Park. The former Shrewsbury Town man has scored eight goals for the Magpies this season and reports claim Derby are prepared to pay £250,000. Clough says there has yet to be an official bid for Davies, but confirmed he is keen to sign the player this month. "It's no secret we have been interested in him (Davies) in the last six months and with the window being open it is something we are going to try to pursue," Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph. "Talks are ongoing but there has been no official bid. "Figures have been mentioned, if you class that as a bid."
