Sheffield United manager Gary Speed says the club are ready to offer midfielder David McAllister a permanent contract at Bramall Lane.
The 21-year-old has been training with the Blades and is hoping to be offered terms in January when his current deal with Irish League side St Patrick's expires.
The Dublin-based club have already confirmed McAllister is poised to join the South Yorkshire side on their official website, and Speed is ready to welcome the youngster.
Speed said: "We've had a look at him, he's done well while on trial and could have a future over here."
The Blades, currently 18th in the Championship, travel to lowly Bristol City at the weekend hoping to build on Saturday's 3-2 triumph over Crystal Palace, their first win at home since September.
