Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan has expressed his disappointment after a club record offer for Billy Sharp was turned down by Sheffield United.
Sharp has impressed during a season-long loan spell at the Keepmoat Stadium and Rovers are keen to hang on to the striker.
A bid, understood to be in the region of £650,000, was rejected by the Blades and Ryan is unsure whether Doncaster will increase the offer.
Ryan said: "I'm disappointed. We will have to wait and see what happens.
"It was certainly the biggest bid Doncaster Rovers have made for a player.
"It was a very substantial offer, so we'll have to regroup and see what happens with the rest of the summer.
"I think we pushed the boat out a bit with this offer."
