Latics striker going nowhere, while Camara takes his chance

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has reiterated his desire to retain the services of Emile Heskey this summer. The England international continues to be linked with a move away from JJB Stadium, despite the Latics' insistence that he is not for sale. The powerful front-man featured in the club's 4-0 Carling Cup success over Notts County on Tuesday, and Bruce is adamant that the former Liverpool hit-man will still be at the club once the transfer window slams shut on 1st September. "It would take a hell on an offer to let him go but I've not heard anything from anyone and I don't envisage anything happening at this late stage," he said. Heskey posed little threat during the comfortable cup success, with his strike partner Henri Camara stealing the show.

Complements

Bruce has challenged the Senegal international to fight his way back into his plans this season, and the nomadic forward responded with a well-taken brace against the Magpies. Bruce said: "I have seen Camara play against my teams in the past and score against us. "I didn't even know what was happening with him in the summer but he's now here for another year and I'm sure he's got a part to play. "He complements my other strikers like Heskey and Antoine Sibierski and he gives me something different."
