Chairman Kevin McCabe has reassured Sheffield United supporters that the club will do their utmost to retain the services of striker James Beattie.
Beattie was in impressive form last season, scoring 22 goals in 39 Championship appearances.
His displays have reportedly attracted the interest from a number of clubs, with Nottingham Forest the latest to be linked with a swoop.
McCabe, though, is adamant Beattie will only leave Bramall Lane in 'exceptional' circumstances.
"I hear the rumours and the speculation like anyone else and, when that happens, I get concerned too, but we are not a selling club," said McCabe in The Star.
"He was our top scorer last season, he is enjoying it here and you want that sort of goalscorer at your club, particularly when you have the ambitions we have.
"Of course, everyone knows that if players want to go then they will do but it would take something exceptional in this case.
"We want him here at Bramall Lane and we will do what we can to have good players here and to keep them."
