Midfielder agrees long-term deal at Portman Road

Ipswich have completed the signing of midfielder Alan Quinn for a fee that could rise to £600,000. The former Sheffield United player joined Ipswich on loan last week, but he has now agreed a three-and-a-half year deal at Portman Road. And the Republic of Ireland international has set his sights on a return to the Premier League with Ipswich manager Jim Magilton, who he played with at Sheffield Wednesday, after sampling the top flight with the Blades last season. "Ipswich are doing well at the moment and are in with a chance of going up," Quinn told Ipswich World.

Big factor

"Hopefully I can help the club achieve that aim. Everything is here for the club to move on and play at the top level. "The manager has got some good players here and having played alongside Jim at Sheffield Wednesday, I know what he is all about. "He is a big factor in me coming here. I know he will want his team passing the ball around and taking the game to the opposition. "I'm looking forward to my time here. It's a great football club."
Deal
Meanwhile, Blades chairman Terry Robinson has wished Quinn all the best with his new club. "This was a deal we had to consider," said Robinson. "Because of our squad size and number of midfield players, we felt we could let Alan go. "He goes with our massive thanks for his service and we wish him well at his new club."
