Queens Park Rangers have signed Sheffield United midfielder Mikele Leigertwood for an undisclosed fee.
Hoops boss John Gregory sees the 24-year-old as an ideal replacement for the injured Simon Walton.
The former Blades man spent a season at Bramall Lane after signing from Crystal Palace.
He made 19 appearances in the Premier League last season, but was sidelined for a lengthy spell due to injury.
"Since the injury to Simon Walton, the midfield area is one we have been trying hard to fill," Gregory told the club's official website.
"Mikele is an outstanding athlete and footballer who can come straight into the team in that position and I think he is a quality acquisition for the club."
QPR's new signing spoke of his determination to succeed at the club, he said: "QPR contacted me on Wednesday, I had a word with John Gregory and I had a look around the place on Thursday.
"I was very impressed with what I saw and hopefully we can all progress together.
"I am hardworking, honest, never one to shy away and hopefully I can bring some steel to the centre of the park."
