Sheffield United and Zamalek have confirmed the transfer of Ahmed Fathi to the Egyptian club.
The Blades have sent a fax to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) confirming that Fathi will be sold to Zamalek, with the Cairo-based side announcing that the 22-year-old has joined them on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
However, the Egyptian international midfielder insists he knows nothing about the alleged agreement.
EFA secretary general Salah Hosni told Egyptian TV: "Sheffield said that they reached an agreement with Zamalek that will see Fathi heading to the Cairo giants.
"They also said that they will send the player's ITC to the EFA within the forthcoming hours in order for Zamalek to register him in their squad"
Fathi is unaware of the dealFathi told FilBalad.com: "Nobody has told me about this agreement and neither Zamalek's officials nor Sheffield officials have contacted me.
"I'm astonished and I completely refuse such deals, they have to ask me before making any agreements. I don't want to join Zamalek and will not be forced to play with them.
"If Sheffield want to release me then I will look for another European club because I don't want to return to Egypt."
