Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson has warned James Beattie he is not guaranteed first-team football.

"Nobody walks straight into my team."

Quotes of the week

The Blades completed the capture of the Everton striker this week in £4million deal for the Championship outfit.

Despite dropping down a division, Robson has stated the Southampton man has to fight for his place like everyone else.

"I think that every manager in the Championship would love to have James Beattie in their squad," Robson told the club's official website.

"James is really looking forward to it - he knows United's ambitions, and that we're a great club with great supporters.

"He has to work hard and perform to get into the team because nobody walks straight into my team as everyone has an even chance."
