Sheffield United will hold contract talks with Nick Montgomery in the coming weeks.

The midfielder is reportedly wanted by five Premier League clubs after the Blades were relegated to the Championship.

In an attempt to thwart any interest in Montgomery, the club have confirmed discussions will take place within the next fortnight.

Blades chairman Terry Robinson also reiterated that goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, who has been linked with Bolton, will be summoned for negotiations.

"We've had discussions with Paddy and Nick's agent - both players use the same agent - and they're well aware that we're going to get into negotiations," Robinson told the club's official website.

"They've been put in the diary for the next couple of weeks when they're back off their holidays.

"They'll be talking to us or we'll be talking to them in the near future."

Robinson also claims that much of the speculation surrounding the club's players, particularly Kenny, is 'rubbish'.

He added: "I read so much in the papers about this club. I don't believe anything about other clubs because I can confirm that a lot of it is rubbish."
