Keith Gillespie has agreed to stay with Sheffield United, but the club are waiting for a response from Chris Lucketti.
The Blades have offered Gillespie and Lucketti deals to remain at Bramall Lane, following the club's relegation from the Premier League.
Northern Ireland international Gillespie has notified the club of his intention to sign the deal put to him.
"We had a verbal confirmation from Keith's agent that he'll be signing," Blades chairman Terry Robinson told the club's official website.
"It's made up, waiting for him to sign. He is on holiday."
Lucketti, though, has yet to make up his mind, with the veteran centre-half having also spoken to Hull City.
Robinson added: "Chris is on his holidays and is back on Monday or Tuesday, I think. Then we'll know fully what his decision is.
"Chris is at an age where other clubs are looking at him and giving him extended contracts.
"At this stage, we have made Chris an offer and it's for him to decide whether to take it up."
