Crewe striker Lee Matthews will be allowed to leave the club on loan.
Dario Gradi has confirmed that Crewe striker Lee Matthews will be allowed to leave the club on loan.
Since joining the club last summer, Matthews has made just nine appearances in League One and is yet to open his account.
Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard have struck up a prolific partnership for Crewe and Gradi has conceded that Matthews' interests may be better served elsewhere.
"He's fit and he's training but he needs to play matches and he's said he wants to go out and play games," said Gradi.
The Crewe boss has also confirmed that he is not looking to sign Sheffield United youngster Nicky Law on loan as he cannot promise the teenager a regular first team role.
"He's definitely good enough but I think Yeovil have said he will play matches," Gradi added.
"We wouldn't put an 18-year-old in ahead of one of our 18-year-olds but we thank Sheffield United."
Another player to leave Crewe is defender Robert Lloyd, who joins Witton Albion on a permanent basis after being on loan with the UniBond League Premier Division side.
