Neil Warnock has revealed he was frustrated to see Stephen Quinn make the long trip to San Marino only to be left out of the Republic of Ireland squad.
Quinn has been a regular starter for The Blades since breaking into the team at the start of December and Warnock feels he fully merits international recognition.
However, he believes that the 20-year-old midfielder would have been better served staying with his club than traipsing all over Europe and not even playing.
"He went to San Marino, is not back until Friday afternoon - and he was not even on the bench," said the Blades chief.
"That is when, as a manager, I bang my head against the wall.
"It is disappointing when we could have done a bit more with him over here, but that is how it is when you are up against internationals."
