Chris Lucketti expects to end the season as a Sheffield United player having forced his way into Neil Warnock's first team plans.
The 35-year-old central defender looked all set to quit Bramall Lane in January when he was placed on the transfer list but a congested treatment room has handed Lucketti an unexpected opportunity to impress.
Lucketti has started the club's last four games and for the moment at least, the former Preston favourite is concentrating his efforts on life in the Premiership.
"I was put on the transfer list with a view to go in the window, there were offers on the table and I could have gone but I didn't give up this opportunity to play in the Premiership - it's something special when you are 35," Lucketti told the club's official website.
"The gaffer doesn't want me to go and, at this moment, I'm not thinking about it.
"I'm just concentrating on playing and I hope to figure in the next game."
