Celtic and Palermo are battling to sign Swiss starlet Zdravko Kuzmanovic.
The 19-year-old midfielder has a contract with FC Basel until next year but is thought to be keen on a January exit.
Basel have already knocked back bids in the region of £1million from both of his major suitors.
However, the Swiss club's owner Gigi Oeri has confirmed they will be willing to listen to improved offers.
"We refused both offers from Palermo and Celtic and now it's up to those clubs to increase their bids," Oeri is quoted in the Daily Record.
"It's possible a decision will be taken on Zdravko by Monday. We don't want to let him go but there comes a point when we must sell."
Palermo see Kuzmanovic as the future replacement for Eurgenio Corini, who turns 37 this year.
President Maurizio Zamparini said: "We are thinking to the future beyond Corini."
Meanwhile, Celtic are believed to be in talks about bringing Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield to Scotland.
Horsfield, who has spent much of the season on loan at Leeds, would be available for a minimal fee.
