Rangers are reportedly closing in on a deal for Austria Vienna defender Sasa Papac, as four fringe men are set to be allowed to leave the club.
Bosnian Papac would be the club's third signing from Vienna following the addition of Libor Sionko and Filip Sebo earlier in the summer, but he is expected to cost somewhere in the region of £1.2 million.
Light Blues boss Paul Le Guen therefore looks set to lose Olivier Bernard, Allan McGregor, Jose Pierre-Fanfan and Bob Malcolm to fund the transfer for the eager arrival.
"When I was told about Rangers' interest I looked on the internet to read about life in Scotland," Papac told the Daily Record.
"Rangers are a very good club with a big history. I have also spoken to Sebo on the phone and he has only good things to say about Glasgow.
"I feel ready for a move to play at a high level but it's up to the clubs and Rangers have to wait to deal with Vienna. I need to wait."
Ibrox officials may have to drop their asking price of £200,000 if goalkeeper McGregor is to move to Dundee United, but Pierre-Fanfan is set to decide on his offers from Atalanta and Spanish outfit Gimnastica.
Left back Bernard is expected to join Premiership new boys Sheffield United, while Nigel Spackman's Millwall look likely to snap up Malcolm on a season-long loan.
Meanwhile, returning Ger Chris Burke has criticised the state of the pre-season pitches in South Africa for his ankle ligament damage.
"The training pitches were farcical, to be honest. There was a divot on the pitch which I slid into and twisted my ankle. I heard it crack," Burke added.
"It's frustrating because I had done all the hard work and was looking forward to the games. Then I ended up sitting watching them.
"The first thing I have to do is get my fitness back because I am nowhere near the rest of the lads.
"They've played six games in pre-season and three league games whereas all I've done is make a couple of appearances from the bench."
The 24-year-old will be hoping to make a return to the starting line-up for Saturday's crucial match with Hearts at Ibrox.
