Things really could not be going better for me or the club at the moment.

It is only early in the season, but still we are proving ourselves as one of the teams to beat.

We came from behind on Saturday against Watford and that really did highlight our character within the team and squad.

At times we have gone behind in previous seasons and we have lost heart and failed to come back, but now we have the belief within us and we know that we can beat anybody.

We are now in for training ahead of Tuesday's Carling Cup match at Shrewsbury. I have already been told that I am not involved as the boss is not planning on playing the first XI on Tuesday.

The squad we have now is first class and the depth is so good that we can still put out a team that could almost be completely changed and yet could be a match for any team in our current division.

There are a few knocks in the squad so it gives us a chance to play some of the players who have either been knocking on the door or who are coming back form a long injury - such as Alan Wright.

It is great that all the lads get there chance as the club at the moment is on a real high - the young lads are all buzzing but the more experienced lads help everyone keep their feet on the ground.

As I said the team that plays at Shrewsbury may not be same as the one that turned out against Watford - but it should be made clear that the fans will not be short changed.

The gaffer has decided that this season he really wants to prioritise the league, mainly because - starting now - the games are coming thick and fast.

The Premiership is our main goal and although cup runs are nice, to get promotion is our main aim and hopefully we can keep it up over the coming weeks - and you never know a club record could be in the offing, but as everyone in football says - we are only going to take it one game at a time.

We know there are no easy games in football these days and we will not be underestimating Shrewsbury who beat Brighton in the last round. Hopefully we can go through to the next round - after which point we can look towards Derby on Saturday and ensure we keep up our good league form.
