Magpies pair sign deals

Stacy Long and Jake Sheridan have signed one-year deals with Notts County.

Notts County have signed recent recruits Stacy Long and Jake Sheridan to proper contracts.

The pair have penned one-year deals with The Magpies after initially joining the East Midlands outfit on non-contract terms.

Both Long and Sheridan impressed Meadow Lane boss Gudjon Thordarson during pre-season trials and both have appeared for the club since the League Two season began last Saturday.

One player that looks set to depart County is goalkeeper Saul Deeney, with Thordarson keen to sort out the custodian's situation in the near future.

Deeney is on a week-to-week deal after turning down the offer of a new contract with the club in the close season and has had a trial with Championship side Crewe Alexandra.

The 22-year-old was also linked with a switch to Sheffield United but no move away from Meadow Lane has yet materialised.

Thordarson admitted that two clubs are interested in Deeney and he called on those clubs to complete a deal.

"There are some options there for Saul Deeney with a few clubs looking at him," Thordarson told the club's official website.

"I can't see myself what is going to happen because it is down to the two clubs interested in him and how they take the situation further.

"At this moment in time, I am not sure what will happen."
