Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has turned down a move to League One new boys Scunthorpe United.

The 19-year-old failed to agree personal terms with the Glanford Park club after The Iron had concurred on a £100,000 fee with their Championship counterparts.

Despite not making a first team appearance for The Blades, Sharp could now be set to sign a new contract with Neil Warnock's side.

"Billy has turned down the offer and we have told him he doesn't have to go," Warnock told the club's official website.

"We are in the process of offering him a new contract and if he signs, we will let him go out on loan.

"I thought Scunthorpe would be a good move for him, playing at that level, and £100,000 was a realistic offer for Billy."
