Oldham boss Ronnie Moore is believed to have turned his attention to Andy Liddell as a move for Luke Beckett falters.

Beckett had been the club's primary target but Moore admits that this deal now looks dead in the water as the player, who has been transfer listed, is keen to fight for a place at Bramall Lane.

Liddell, who has also been told that he can leave by Blades boss Neil Warnock, is now being considered along with Wrexham's Juan Ugarte and Coventry's Andy Morrell.

''We've gone as far as we can go with Beckett,'' Moore told the Oldham Advertiser.

''We've spoken to the three players, as have five or six other clubs, but they all want to play in the Championship.

''It's a waiting game but I'd like to get something sorted before we leave for Ibiza on July 3.''

Oldham are also thought to have entered the race to land Birmingham goalkeeper Ian Bennett - a purported target of Sheffield United and Leeds.

Meanwhile, Hucknall Town wide man Andy Todd, 26-years-old, is to have a trial at Boundary Park.
