Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is ready to cool his interest in Danny Collins because he is growing tired of Chester conducting their business through the media.
Collins is out of contract in the summer and The Blades could now wait until the close season before negotiating with the highly rated stopper.
Chester boss Ian Rush has discussed Collins' future in the past few days, in a situation that has angered Warnock.
''It's a shame that everything has been talked about in the open,'' Warnock told the Sheffield Star.
''We're fully aware of what the player's situation is and what has been going on.''
Warnock also continued to confirm that Colchester defender Greg Halford will not be heading to Bramall Lane, despite speculation to the contrary.
''The lad is a full-back and that's not a priority for us at the moment,'' he continued.
''It's no secret that we have been keeping an eye on a couple of possibilities but he isn't one of them.''
