ICELANDIC international Arnar Gunnlaugsson has joined Sheffield United on a month's loan.

The transfer-listed forward has made just two appearances for Leicester City this term and is surplus to requirements under new Foxes' boss Dave Bassett.

"The recurrence of (Paul) Peschisolido's injury has left us with only three fit strikers so Arnar's arrival is a boost in that area," Blades chief Neil Warnock told the club's official website.

"Obviously, although he has not been playing regular first team football, we feel he is someone who can offer something different."

Gunnlaugsson should be available for The Blades' upcoming league clash with Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, United's out-of-favour defender Rob Ullathorne is reportedly close to joining Swedish outfit IFK Gothenburg.
