Pressley: Deal must be right

Coventry manager Steven Pressley insists wantaway striker Leon Clarke will not be sold unless the deal is good for the club.

Wolves made a bid for the striker on Monday evening, shortly after Clarke submitted a transfer request. "Ultimately, he's a hugely important player for us and I can assure our supporters that we will not sell the player unless the deal is correct for this football club," Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph. "Leon knows how important he is to this club and because of that I am disappointed because it puts us in a difficult predicament, particularly given Callum Wilson's injury. "If there is no deal agreed between the clubs this week then, absolutely, Leon Clarke has to continue to play for this club and give his maximum. He will be part of the squad for the weekend and moving forward. "We pay him and he has to act in a really professional manner and show our supporters that while he's here he is still committed to this football club. He also has to show his fellow players that while he's here he's still committed to the group, and he has to do that by the way he trains and performs."
