Striker Franco Di Santo will not be sold in the January transfer window, according to Wigan manager Roberto Martinez.
The Argentine is out of contract in the summer and could move on a free transfer at this time, but Martinez believes that the player is important enough to risk this eventuality.
Amid rumoured interest from Liverpool, the Wigan boss has insisted that the club will blank all bids for the forward.
"We can't afford to lose Franco or anyone else just now," Martinez said.
"We are working with Franco, but right now results are vital.
"Franco had an incredible experience with us last season. He was unbelievable in the last nine games. He is a very important player for the squad."
Di Santo has scored four goals in his last forty games for Wigan, and has currently gone twelve games without scoring.
