Roberto Martinez has called on Victor Moses to stay at Wigan after his agent claimed the forward wants to move on.
Moses' representative, Tony Finnigan, revealed earlier this week that the Nigerian international had turned down the offer of a new deal at the DW Stadium.
The 21-year-old has just over a year to run on his current contract and a number of Premier League rivals are thought to be waiting in the wings to move for Moses at the end of the season.
However, Martinez believes it would be a bad move by Moses if he was to leave Wigan feeling he will only improve as a player if he stays put.
"In the future, if he does the things that he has to do, he will be a top, top player," said Martinez. "But I don't think it is healthy to start talking about his possibilities and his future.
"I think Victor knows it and he is well aware to fulfil his potential he needs to work harder from now until the next 16 or 18 months."
