Wigan boss Roberto Martinez admits his side must treat each of their home fixtures from this point on as must-win encounters.
The Latics find themselves propping up the Premier League table heading into a weekend showdown with Martinez's former employers Swansea.
They have spent much of the campaign languishing inside the bottom three, with much-needed consistency having so far eluded them.
Wigan are, however, unbeaten in their last three top flight fixtures and only a point adrift of safety.
Performances on home soil could be pivotal in the battle to avoid the drop and Martinez is aware that his side require a dramatic improvement to a record that has seen them win just once at the DW Stadium this season.
"Every game is a must-win game at home," said the Spaniard.
"If you look at the amount of points we have at home this season it is nowhere near the level we have produced in our performances.
"Sometimes it was something we couldn't control and other times it was because we have not been able to be clinical enough.
"The reality is when you are facing the last six games of the season at home you must use all the good things we have done and make sure we perform as well as we can to affect every small margin to get the scores we deserve.
"We need those points to catch up and get out of the position we are in."
Martinez added: "It (scoring goals) is not the biggest concern as a manager, the biggest concern is creating chances - that is the most important thing.
"You have to have a pattern of play that creates problems for the opposition and you can open teams up.
"I do think we have a big goalscoring return around the corner because it is impossible not to collect on the good work we are doing.
"It is important we don't lose the focus of how to get those goals."
