Robinson praises newbie Tav

New signing James Tavernier has impressed manager Karl Robinson after making his MK Dons debut in the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield.

Tavernier joined the League One promotion contenders on a loan deal from Newcastle for the remainder of the season on transfer deadline day, just 48 hours after Toon team-mate Alan Smith had made his temporary move to stadium:mk. The 20-year-old, a right-back by trade but capable of playing at centre-half, started at the Galpharm Stadium. Robinson said: "Tav came in for his debut to play against Danny Cadamarteri who has been there, seen it and done it, and he didn't look out of place. "He is quick and strong and versatile and he is only going to get better. He is going to be a valuable addition to the group." Tavernier has good experience of League One having enjoyed successful loan spells at Carlisle and Sheffield Wednesday already this season.
