Striker free to move from Turkish club

Clubs from the Premier League, Championship and SPL are on alert after Billy Mehmet became available on a free transfer, skysports.com can reveal. The former West Ham and St Mirren striker joined Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi in the summer on a Bosman transfer. Mehmet has been a regular all season, scoring two goals in 14 appearances. But the Turkish outfit are believed to be looking to cut costs and are ready to let some of their foreign squad members depart. One of those is Mehmet, who has now mutually agreed to terminate his deal in order for him to seal a move. And skysports.com understands that a host of clubs are ready to battle for the 27-year-old's signature. Wigan, Sheffield United and Bristol City are all keen, while Rangers, Aberdeen and Hearts are all looking to taking him back to Scotland.
