Boss delight at midfielder's consistency

Wigan midfielder Hendry Thomas has earned the praise of his manager Roberto Martinez. The 25-year-old Honduras international, who joined the club on a free transfer last summer, has made a central midfield position his own this season with a string of all-action displays. Thomas has been an ever present in the Latics' side and Martinez has hailed his consistency. "I haven't been surprised at all by Hendry's form this year, because I know exactly what he is capable of," he told the Wigan Evening Post. "But it's been so good to see him enjoying his football and showing such a high level of consistency.

Understanding

"The way he has adapted to the Premier League this season has been quite remarkable. "Last season he started off very well, but the demands of the English game can be tough on midfielders and he had a bit of a time-out before coming back strong. "This season, his understanding and tactical awareness has gone on to a different level. "It has been so pleasing to see him playing in different positions within the midfield and having such an impact in the side."
