Blake and Scotland on Robins' radar

Barnsley boss Mark Robins has revealed he tried for both Robbie Blake and Jason Scotland on transfer deadline day. The ambitious Tykes enquired about the Premier League pair but were given short shrift by Burnley and Wigan respectively. Blake has more than played his part for Burnley this season but has had to make do with a place on the bench of late, prior to his recall at the weekend against Chelsea. Robins admits he did try for the veteran wide man but was rebuffed by new Clarets boss Brian Laws. "I was interested in him but he wasn't available," he told The Star. Over at Wigan it has been a season of frustration for Scotland, who has failed to replicate his Swansea form since following Roberto Martinez to the DW Stadium. Wigan signed two new strikers of their own on Monday but still have no intention of selling Scotland. "There's a lot you want to do. You have targets, but there's some we missed out on," continued Robins.
