Inverness set to accept offer for midfielder

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed talks are ongoing to sell Don Cowie to Watford. The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and reports had claimed he had already agreed a deal to join Watford in the summer. However, the 25-year-old is now close to sealing a move to the Championship strugglers before the close of the transfer window. New Inverness boss Terry Butcher, who left Cowie out of the team which drew 0-0 with Celtic, said: "The clubs are on the verge of agreeing a financial deal. "Don Cowie will be joining them and it is a big move for him. "From a mental point of view it would have been very hard to have asked him to play today." Cowie has also been linked with Rangers, Dundee United, Motherwell and Leeds United as he considers his future with the SPL's bottom club. Inverness had been hoping to secure Cowie to a new contract, but he seems set to join Watford for a nominal fee before Monday's 5pm deadline.
