Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder has played down speculation linking the Championship club with a loan move for Wigan defender Ryan Taylor.
The Canaries chief is well known for signing players on a short-term basis - the former Newcastle manager currently has no fewer than eight loan signings on his books at Carrow Road.
And with Latics boss Steve Bruce confirming that he would be prepared to let Taylor move away from the JJB Stadium on loan, rumours of a move to East Anglia quickly came to fruition.
However, Roeder has now quashed any such speculation, claiming the Canaries would be unable to fund another short-term signing.
"He is a good player but that's just speculation," Roeder told the Pink'un website.
"I'm certainly aware that he's a versatile player with Premier League experience, but of course, like all Premier League players, it comes at a cost of Premier League salaries as well.
"Sometimes people forget that there is a chasm between Premier League salaries and Championship salaries.
"Once you're an established Premier League player, everyone knows what they earn - fortunes.
"As far as I'm concerned, he won't be turning up next week. What happens in the future, in January, who knows?"
