Latics complete striker move

Wigan have completed the transfer of striker Rachid Bouaouzan from Sparta Rotterdam.

The 23-year-old Moroccan has agreed a three-year deal, and boss Chris Hutchings says having Mario Melchiot and Denny Landzaat at the club gave Wigan a boost in the negotiations.

"It was very useful to have a couple of Dutch lads here already," he said.

"They came in on their day off to speak to Rachid about us, which I'm very grateful for.

"I know that he has been chased by several clubs, so I am delighted he decided to join us.

"I think that he has bags of potential and exactly what it takes to be a success in this country.

"He's very quick, has got two good feet and can play on either wing. He has come highly recommended from several sources."

The fee has not been disclosed.
