Wigan Athletic have allowed Andy Webster to remain on loan with Rangers until January 2008.
The Scottish international first moved to Ibrox at the turn of the year but sustained an injury in his first training session and is yet to make a senior appearance with The Gers.
Having failed to settle at Wigan after his groundbreaking move in August 2006 - playing just four times for the Premier League club - The Latics have agreed to loan him to Walter Smith's side for another six-month period.
Webster will now join new signings Jean-Claude Darcheville, Alan Gow, Kirk Broadfoot, DaMarcus Beasley and Graeme Smith in preparing for the new season in Glasgow.
Smith is still hoping to further strengthen his squad though, and has tabled bids for a number of unnamed players.
Bordeaux's Julien Faubert and Maceo Rigters of NAC Breda are believed to be two of his targets, and Smith is currently waiting to see how his offers progress.
"I still hope to have a few more signings in before the end of the season," Smith told the club's official website. "It's never easy but we are hopeful of having some in over the coming weeks.
"We have bids out for a number of players and we are waiting on answers from those clubs.
"Once we get word back we will know where we stand and can go ahead from there."
