Feyenoord chase Landzaat

Feyenoord want to take Wigan midfielder Denny Landzaat back to Holland.

Feyenoord want to take Wigan Athletic midfielder Denny Landzaat back to Holland.

Landzaat joined Wigan last summer in a £2.5million deal from AZ Alkmaar and grew in stature as the season wore on.

He scored twice in 33 Premier League appearances, including a stunning long-range effort in the controversial 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

But he is wanted back in Holland as Feyenoord look to improve upon a disappointing campaign by their standards.

New coach Bert van Marwijk is keen to bring in several high-profile signings, and has been linked with the likes of Roy Makaay, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Danny Koevermans.

Landzaat's name has now appeared on Van Marwijk's list of targets, with the club confirming their intention to attract big names to De Kuip.

Interim director Peter Vogelzang told Voetbal International: "It is clear that we are aiming high.

"We want real A-players which will mean a reinforcement that can lift Feyenoord to a higher level."
