Wigan boss Paul Jewell believes Denny Landzaat is ready to show his true form after adapting to English football.
The Latics pulled off something of a coup when signing Landzaat from AZ Alkmaar last summer, but the Dutch international struggled to hold down a place in the side in the early part of the season.
The 30-year-old has begun to show something of his best form in recent weeks and has scored two goals in his last three games
Jewell has been impressed by Landzaat's recent performances and is confident he can build on them for the remainder of the campaign.
"It has taken Denny a fair amount of time to settle here, we cannot get away from that fact, he has struggled with the pace of the game," said Jewell.
"But the signs against Reading, Portsmouth and especially at Arsenal were encouraging, he seems to have grasped the nettle.
"He scored a terrific goal last week so hopefully that will give him plenty of confidence for the rest of the season.
"You don't play for Holland as often as he has done without being a good player but Denny admits he's struggled."
