Denny Landzaat feels he is finally getting used to Premiership football and is aiming to cement his place in the Wigan Athletic side.

Upon joining The Latics from AZ Alkmaar last summer, the midfielder initially struggled to adjust to the demands of the English game.

But, after scoring a stunning goal in Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, the Holland international is happy with the progress he has been making.

"I'm starting to get used to the pace and the demands of the game over here, and I'm really enjoying the experience," Landzaat told the club's official website.

"I hope I can keep in the team and show the people in Wigan what I can do because I feel there is more to come from me."

Reflecting on his 30-yard drive at Emirates Stadium, Landzaat concedes it is the type of goal he is always looking to score.

He added: "It was definitely the best goal I've scored for a while, but I have had others like that in my career.

"It's something that I have always done, coming late from the midfield and getting a chance to hit the target from distance.

"I've not had that many chances to do it in England so far."
