Three-match ban for McCulloch

Lee McCulloch will serve a three-match ban after accepting a charge of violent conduct.

Lee McCulloch will serve a three-match suspension after accepting an FA charge of violent conduct.

The Wigan Athletic forward was charged following an incident involving Chris Morgan in the 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Morgan was left with a badly-swollen right eye after being punched by McCulloch during a tussle in the penalty area.

Referee Peter Walton did not spot the incident, leaving The FA free to charge the Scotland international with violent conduct.

McCulloch had until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge and he has accepted a three-match ban.

He will now miss Wigan's Premiership games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Watford over the Christmas period.

Blades captain Morgan had been hoping McCulloch would escape any further punishment after admitting he had accepted an apology from his opponent.
