Wigan defender Paul Scharner has been banned from the Austria squad amidst accusations that he asked to pick his games.
The robust stopper has proven an able performer in The Premiership since arriving at Wigan last term but it seems as though his time on the international scene could be drawing to a close.
Austria coach Josef Hickersberger has claimed that Scharner requested to miss certain matches, a notion that has fallen very much on deaf ears.
Clearly incensed at his player's request Hickersberger has told Scharner that he will not tolerate any such demands and has banned him forthwith.
''This is an unacceptable attitude, which I will not tolerate," Hickersberger is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
