Sky Sports News understands that Crystal Palace have turned down Wigan Athletic's £1 million offer for Emmerson Boyce.
The Premiership outfit moved for the defender on Friday in a bid to follow up their earlier raid on The Eagles for Fitz Hall.
However Paul Jewell's opening gambit has been spurned by Palace who are looking to keep hold of their squad to fire a promotion challenge next season.
Wigan spent a club record £5.5 million on striker Emile Heskey on Friday and are not frightened to open the chequebook, and The Latics will now have to up their offer if they are to bring the 26-year-old to The Premiership.
Boyce was named as Palace's Player of the Year last term and has emerged as a crucial member of the side ever since his switch from Luton Town in 2004.
