Carlisle United have signed Wigan Athletic youngster Luke Joyce for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old has had his youth trainee scholarship taken over by the League Two leaders after impressing Cumbrians boss Paul Simpson on trial this week.
The central midfielder will sign a one-year professional deal with the Brunton Park outfit in the summer after deciding to bring his time at The JJB Stadium to an end.
"He has played very well and shown good awareness on the ball, and he has definitely done enough for us to want to take it further," Simpson told the club's official website.
"We're looking forward to working with him and to getting him involved either this season, or the next."
Meanwhile, Carlisle winger Raphael Nade has returned to Weymouth after agreeing to a fresh loan deal with the Conference South club.
Nade has already spent two months on loan with The Terras, and despite rejecting a permanent move to Weymouth, he has agreed to see out the season with them on loan.
