Wigan goalkeeper Mike Pollitt faces a month on the sidelines with the injury he picked up in last weekend's Carling Cup final.

The former Rotherham custodian endured a nightmare Carling Cup final when he was forced off early on with a hamstring problem.

Pollitt underwent scans on the injury earlier this week and he is now expected to be out of action for up to four weeks.

The news is a blow for Pollitt as he had firmly established himself as first choice goalkeeper at The JJB Stadium in the last few months.

John Filan will continue to deputise for Pollitt in next week's Premiership clash with Manchester United.
