Fortune favours Pollitt

Wigan goalkeeper Mike Pollitt has revealed his delight at his turnaround in fortunes.

Wigan goalkeeper Mike Pollitt has revealed his delight at the turnaround in fortunes that has seen him move from a struggling Championship side to playing a key role in Wigan's early steps into top-flight football.

The shot stopper was rescued from relegated Rotherham by Paul Jewell over the summer and has now started all three games as The Latics have taken three points in their inaugural Premiership season.

The 33-year-old is now happy to be plying his trade amongst the country's top sides and admits he could not turn down a move to The JJB Stadium.

"After the situation I was in last year this is such a bonus," said Pollitt.

"It was a chance I had to take and I didn't want [it] to pass me by.

"I gave it a go because you never know what can happen.

"I've always believed in my ability to do a job in The Premiership."
