Wigan boss Paul Jewell is looking to step up his search for a new striker with news of an injury to record signing Henri Camara.
The pacey Senegal international had an impressive debut against Chelsea on Sunday but in midweek, playing for his country against Ghana, suffered a foot injury.
Wigan travel to Charlton at the weekend with Jewell facing the prospect of having Jason Roberts as his only recognised striker, should Camara be deemed unfit to play.
A move for Norwich striker Dean Ashton appears unlikely to materialise, leaving Jewell ready to re-enter the market as he looks for a replacement for Nathan Ellington - whose move to West Brom has not amused the Wigan chief.
''Even if Nathan would have stayed here - as we wanted him to - we would have been looking to bring another striker in,'' Jewell told Sky Sports News.
''We need another top class striker to go with the two we've already got and maybe another one as well.
''It's one area where we are short. One or two (of Ellington's) quotes were a bit strange
''He said he wanted to stay but once West Brom came in for him he wanted to play for Bryan Robson because he supported Man United - but it's gone now.
''Nathan's gone but we made him what we feel was a very good offer.''
