Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd seems resigned to losing striker Heidar Helguson.

The Iceland international has been the subject of recent bids from Sheffield United and Sunderland while West Ham United are thought to be lining up a move for the Scandinavian hit-man.

The 27-year-old is also thought be attracting the interest of Premiership new boys Wigan Athletic and Boothroyd admits it may be inevitable that Helguson will depart Vicarage Road this summer.

"Heidar is the type of person who wants to be as good as he can be," Boothroyd said.

"If someone puts money on the table for him, I'm prepared for that.

"If he stays, it will be positive for us, but if he goes, it can be positive as well."
