Latics see off Crewe

Wigan got back to winning ways with a 3-1 success at Crewe.

Wigan got back to winning ways with a 3-1 success at Crewe.

Two goals from Jason Roberts and a penalty from Nathan Ellington were enough to give Paul Jewell's men all three points.

The visitors made a dream start with Roberts breaking the deadlock after just three minutes with a clinical finish.

Crewe drew level right on the stroke of half time with White netting from close-range after John Filan could only palm out Lee Bell's downward header.

The goal seemed to shock Wigan and it took them a while to gain a foothold in the contest again.

Wigan were awarded a penalty on 68 minutes when Antony Tonkin felled Gary Teale inside the area and Ellington made no mistake from the spot.

Roberts wrapped up the win with his second of the game 14 minutes from time with a neat finish.
