Cherries deny Fletcher rumours

Bournemouth chairman Peter Phillips is in the dark about reports linking Cherries captain Carl Fletcher with a move to Wigan.

Reports have suggested that Wigan are weighing up a move for Fletcher, but Phillips is unaware of any interest.

Phillips conceded that the club may be forced to sell some of their players if they receive the right offer ahead of this week's transfer deadline.

"I saw the speculation about Carl Fletcher and, as far as I know, it's just another piece of newspaper talk because we've certainly had no approach from Wigan or anybody else for any of our players," Phillips told the Daily Echo.

"But as I've also said many times, everybody is well aware of the financial position of the club and, in the end, every one of our players is for sale if the price is high enough.

"We're not looking to sell anybody and in the current market, we're not expecting to sell anybody, but clearly there are offers you can't refuse for everybody in the squad, potentially."
