Wigan moved up to third in Division One with a scintillating first-half performance helping them to a 3-1 win against Ipswich Town.

Wigan went in at the break two up after superb goals from both Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington.

The impressive Gary Teale extended the lead after the break and despite a concerted effort from Town they only had a Shefki Kuqi consolation strike to show for their endeavours.

Roberts had given Wigan an ideal start, racing through after an error by Drissa Diallo to confidently slot home.

Ellington then added a second when he converted from close range and Teale made it three with a sublime strike in off the underside of the bar.

Kuqi grabbed one back, and Darren Bent struck the bar, but despite the dismissal of Wigan's Leighton Baines for his second booking, the hosts could not get the goals they needed to get a share of the points.
