Championship: Brentford's chances of taking Fulham's Marcello Trotta on loan are slim

Brentford's chances of taking Fulham forward Marcello Trotta back on loan are slim, according to Bees assistant manager David Weir.

The 22-year-old has not appeared for the Whites since 2012 after a pair of goal-laden spells with Brentford in Sky Bet League One over the previous two campaigns.

Fulham's caretaker manager Kit Symons revealed last week that Trotta may have to leave Craven Cottage again to feed his need for first-team football, raising suggestions he could end up among the Bees' ranks once again.

However, now that the two clubs are playing in the same division, Weir is mindful Fulham may be reluctant to lend Trotta to one of their Championship rivals.

"Marcello's been a good player for us, there's no doubt about that," said Weir, speaking after Saturday's loss at Bolton.

"But I'm not sure Fulham would sanction a move to us, being one of their rivals."
